THERAPY SERVICES
Relationships are powerful. They have the power to wound and to heal. Sometimes our negative experiences leave us feeling anxious or depressed. We get stuck in ruts and do the same ineffective things over and over again. Additionally, neurodivergent people (with ADHD, ASD, High IQ, Dyslexia) have complex emotional, thinking, and relational challenges. Being misunderstood deepens isolation and heightens anxiety.
Dr. Gerdin takes the time to understand you and your true struggles. By patiently working through emotions, understanding one's true needs, and finding new tools and ways forward, you can change and achieve your goals.
Dr. Gerdin specializes in treating teens and adults with the following conditions:
Anxiety and Depression therapy
ADHD and Learning Disorders
Emotional/behavioral issues occurring in those with Autism Spectrum/Asperger's Syndrome
Relationship problems, grief, and loss
Traumatic experiences
Spirituality and Christian faith struggles
Mood Disorder and Thought Problems/Psychosis
Dr. Gerdin primarily uses the evidence-based Emotion-Focused Therapy in his work. He integrates a variety of relational and cognitive techniques to treat mood disorders, improve emotion regulation, work on relational issues, and provide needed tools for life's daily challenges. He keeps an eye on your past experiences in life, particularly on how relationships have impacted you. Dr. Gerdin also helps identify your deepest values so you don’t waste your energy on things you don’t truly care about. While Dr. Gerdin has a strong intellectual bent and takes your concerns seriously, he has a warm, playful relational style and connects well with a variety of people.
